Candida Allergy & Related Illness
Candida albicans is a normally harmless yeast that grows in most everyone. It grows on mucous membranes in the sinuses, throat, intestine, and vaginal areas. For some people, their body creates an overgrowth of candida.
Candida overgrowth can cause health issues such as:
- Recurrent yeast infections (vaginitis)
- White, coated tongue
- Excessive intestinal gas and bloating
- Increased cravings for sugar
But for other patients, symptoms may not be as clear; often times nothing seems to help relieve their symptoms.
Candida allergy symptoms:
- Progressive fatigue
- Brain fog (cognitive dysfunction)
- Aching
- Bowel distress
- Increased sensitivity to foods, chemicals, and molds
Repeated antibiotic use, a diet high in refined carbohydrates, and using high doses of steroids can result in increased candida growth.
Skin and blood testing can identify if a candida allergy exists.
Can allergy drops help?
Many patients find that treatment involving allergy drops to reduce allergen sensitivity, accompanied by medication and changes in the diet, can reduce candida in the system.
